Hi, I'm Megan.
I'm a qualified and licensed acupuncturist at the Old Quarter Clinic in Ballincollig. Acupuncture wasn't part of my original plan, but my own experience of it changed the direction of my life.

A few years ago, I was living in London during COVID and working a demanding job. I was exhausted, under a lot of stress, and eventually my menstrual cycle stopped. I tried the usual options, and then someone suggested acupuncture. I was curious, though to be honest I wasn't sure what to expect.
I went in with an open mind. Over the course of my treatments, my cycle returned, my stress became more manageable and my energy began to improve. It made me want to understand more about acupuncture and how it could help other people.
I wanted to understand how it worked, and why people experienced it so differently.
When I moved back to Ireland, I enrolled at the Acupuncture College of Ireland. I spent three years studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and completed more than 1,200 hours of clinical training before qualifying. What began as a personal experience became something I wanted to dedicate my working life to.
Looking at the whole person
Studying Traditional Chinese Medicine introduced me to a different way of looking at health. It considers the wider picture, including your symptoms, your lifestyle and how you're feeling overall, rather than looking at each concern in isolation. It has been practised for over 2,000 years, and today many people choose it alongside their usual healthcare.
I see acupuncture as complementary care. It isn't about replacing the healthcare you already have, and the two can work beautifully together.
What you can expect from me
Time to listen
I'll take time to hear what's been happening, what matters to you and what you hope to get from treatment.
A calm, welcoming space
I want you to feel comfortable from the moment you arrive. I'll talk you through everything and there's always room for questions.
Treatment made for you
Your treatment is based on your health history, your priorities and how you're feeling on the day. We'll review things as we go rather than follow a one-size-fits-all plan.
Alongside the care you already have
I'll take any existing care and medication into account when planning your treatment, so it fits comfortably alongside what you already do.
I'd love to welcome you to the clinic.
I want every client to feel listened to, respected and involved in their care. If you've been curious about acupuncture, you're very welcome to get in touch and ask any questions you have.
